99 Things I Know About You: Privacy Policy

Effective [date of launch]. 99 Things I Know About You is a conversation game by KIRABEN (ABN 85 623 817 667). This policy explains what we collect when you play, buy, or tie a ribbon on the Fall in friend wall, and what we never collect.

The short version

What stays on your phone, and never reaches us

Stays on your phone only Why it's there
Your spoken answers Never recorded at all
Typed Question 99 answers Shown back to you at the reveal
Your "remember" lines and marked questions Shown on your end screen
How you know each other (friends, partners, family…) Used on the phone to word later screens and suggest a pack
Your place in the game So you can pick up where you left off

This information is kept in your browser's storage on that phone. If you clear your browser or change phones, it's gone, and we can't recover it because we never had it. Your access code still unlocks the levels you paid for.

What we collect, and why

What When Why we need it
Each player's first name Game start For your share cards and ribbons
Each player's email address Game start To send your share cards, your ribbon link and your finished-game email
Each player's age in years (optional) Game start To understand who plays, reported only in totals. Never shown to anyone, and never linked to anything you do in the game
Number of players Game start So the right number of ribbons is offered at the end
Purchase details: name and email on the payment, country, items bought, amount, date Checkout To give you your access code, keep tax records, and help with refunds
Age group (optional) Checkout To understand who plays, reported only in totals. Never linked to anything you do in the game
Ribbon details: first name, ribbon number, colour, Flare, nearest city and country, who it's knotted with When you tie a ribbon To show your ribbon on the online wall and tie the real one on the physical wall
Ribbon link code, link requests and links, blocked codes, "open to links" choice If you use ribbon links To run the links area safely
Testimonials and stories: first name or initials, town or city, your words, the access code (to check the purchase) Only if you send one To publish it with your permission (the access code is never shown)
Waiting-list email and country Only if you join a waiting list To email you once, when 99 Things opens in your country
Messages, voicemails and texts you send us If you contact us To reply to you
Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages loaded, error logs Every visit To keep the site running, secure and free of bots

We never ask for your date of birth (only your age in years, if you choose to give it), home address, phone number, photos, or your location from your phone. Ribbon cities come from a list of cities with 100,000 people or more, so nobody in a small town can be pinpointed. You can choose "country only" instead.

Only enter your own email. Each player types in their own address. If you enter someone else's, you need their permission.

Payments

Payments are taken by Stripe through Link, Stripe's checkout service, which sells on our behalf and handles sales tax. Your purchase shows as "Sold through Link" and appears on your card statement as LINK.COM* KIRABEN. Stripe collects your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe and Link handle your payment information under their own privacy policies: Stripe privacy policy and Link privacy policy. Stripe sends your receipt, and lets you ask for your payment data to be deleted.

Emails we send

Cookies and tracking

The game uses your browser's storage to save your place. We use Cloudflare's security tools, including a bot check on actions like entering an email or paying, and they may set cookies needed for that. We don't use advertising trackers.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the services that run 99 Things, and only what each needs:

Service What it does Where it stores data
Stripe and Link Payments, receipts, refunds, sales tax Australia, United States and other countries
Cloudflare Hosts the game and wall, security, database Worldwide network, including the United States
Resend Sends our emails United States
Twilio Our phone line and voicemail United States

Because these services store data overseas, your information may be held outside Australia. We choose providers with strong security and contractual privacy protections. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

Public on the wall: your first name, ribbon number, colour, Flare, city and country, and the ribbons you're knotted or linked with. Never your email. The physical wall shows ribbon numbers only, never names.

How long we keep it

Information Kept for
Purchase records 5 years, for tax law
Player names, emails and ages, with no ribbon tied [12 months] after the game finishes, then deleted
Ribbons Until you ask us to remove yours, or the wall closes
Waiting-list emails Until we send the opening email or you unsubscribe
Testimonials and stories While published; removed on request
Voicemails and messages [90 days] after we've dealt with them
Technical logs [30 days], unless needed to investigate a problem

Your choices and rights

Age

99 Things is for players aged [18] and over. Ribbons and ribbon links are for adults only. If we learn we've collected an email from someone under [18], we'll delete it.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections and held with the providers above. Access is limited to the people who run 99 Things. If a data breach is likely to cause anyone serious harm, we'll tell the people affected as soon as we can.

Automated checks

When a ribbon is tied, an automatic filter checks the name against a list of blocked words before it shows on the wall. If a name is held back, you can email us and a person will review it. We don't use automated systems to make decisions that significantly affect anyone.

Changes and complaints

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and email you first if the change matters to how we use your information. If you have a concern, email hello@kiraben.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
